In 2019, International Spy Museum (Washington DC) invited CTW to use classic shadow puppets, alongside modern light and shadow theater techniques, in order to retell the story “Goujian and the Boiled Seeds”. The story features the clever espionage of Goujian, leader of the Kingdom of Yue, who harnesses the power of science and uses seed and raindrops, rather than guns and bombs, to defeat his nation’s foe. Our work remains on permanent display at the museum and can be found in the “Undermining Nations Exhibit” right upstairs from James Bond’s Austin Martin!
